Closing of Joint FC FD

I am a senior citizen aged 70+ living alone for the past 12 years in Chennai. my wife and children are living in the US. In 2003 I and my wife opened a joint FC FD for USD 10,000/- in Canara Bank Besant Nagar Br. As I am left with no income for a decent living. I want to claim a 50% share on that FC FD. How do I go about it legally?
