Need legal help with the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007:

Dear Legal Advisor, My name is Shweta Das and I\'m an NRI residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). I need legal help with the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007 (Central Act 56 of 2007). Both of my parents are deceased. I have a sibling; my elder brother is married and he lives in Mangalore with his wife, daughter, and his in-law\'s family. My parents were central government employees based in Delhi. My parents did several sacrifices for my elder brother Shaswat Das and they had to take deliberate transfers to some remote and inconvenient locations for sake of my brother's education. On the monetary side, my parents had to sacrifice their dream of buying properties and assets for sake of my elder brother\'s education and marriage.
My brother graduated with a Civil Engineering degree in 2003. Thereafter, he started working with private firms to earn money. He works with a reputed company named Adani Power and lives an affluent life to the best of my knowledge. Despite that, my brother never supported my father financially which compelled my father to take up some private jobs after he retired from the government service.

Emotional, physical, and financial support

After my brother's marriage, he started living away from his parents. During his marriage, my parents used to live in Nagpur and my brother was working in some other town in Maharashtra. I am a B.Com. graduate and I was struggling with my career and left my job in Delhi considering the unsafe situations for women; then I came back to Nagpur and further tried to get a professional opportunity in Mumbai. My father had to take a substantial amount of loan and he had been serving his debts which he took primarily for my elder brother's education and marriage. Under such financial pressures, my father suffered from heart failure and he passed away. Thereafter, he kept my mother with him for about a month; but he and his wife conspired to get rid of my mother. My elder brother abandoned my older mother who needed emotional, physical, and financial support from my established brother. Then my mother had to come back to Nagpur and sadly started living alone while I was struggling to get an employment opportunity in other cities.Ask your legal doubt of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007 | Top Lawyers Consultation in Chennai, Tn India Unfortunately, due to such immense psychological trauma and emotional distress my mother suffered from depression. And she suffered from pneumonia which took her life due to ignorance, lack of support, and compassion from my brother. I was so helpless professionally and financially that I alone couldn't save my mother since my brother abandoned our mother towards death. I'm single. I started living with my brother's family when they changed their residence to Mangalore after my mother\'s demise.

legal advice to take further actions

Within a very short time, my sister-in-law, her family, and my brother started to torture me psychologically; they also conspired to turn my relatives against me to socially abandon me. Just after losing my dearest parents in consecutive years, I had to undergo immense mental trauma. At that juncture, instead of physiologically supporting me, my brother and his in-law's family started doing verbal torture and mental given my emotional vulnerability. Under such tremendous traumatic circumstances, I had no choice other than to leave my brother\'s house and started living on my own too without any financial support from my brother. I strongly believe that my brother is guilty of abandoning his older parents which caused their death.I hereby request you for legal advice to take further actions against my elder brother and his in-law\'s family under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007 (Central Act 56 of 2007). My brother also abandoned his unmarried sister after his parents\' sudden demise. And my other relatives are also guilty of supporting my brother's unethical and unfair actions and misbehavior against my parents. I'm looking forward to hearing from you on the above-mentioned matter. I would appreciate your kind support in this regard.Popular Questions: Thanks in advance. Yours sincerely, [NRI]
