We had rented a commercial apartment in G.N. Chetty Road, T.Nagar in October 2015. Mainly, we had deposited an amount of INR 5 Lakh in the Owner’s account as a security deposit (The amount was transferred through NEFT from our CEO’s personal bank account to the Owner’s account). Moreover, We vacated the apartment in May 2020 after giving 2 months’ notice, as per the terms of the Lease Agreement (the last lease agreement was in effect from January 2018 to December 2019).The rent amount during the notice period on the owner’s request to retain, which will get deducted from the deposit amount. After vacating the apartment the owner has inspected the apartment to his satisfaction. We have been requesting the owner for completing the handing over process and return of our security deposit (over 4 Lakh) for the past eight months, but the owner is not returning the deposit to complete the handing over of the apartment.The owner says he doesn’t have money to return and will return the deposit amount only after receiving the deposit amount from the new tenants. We, therefore, request you to guide us in recovering the deposit amount at the earliest. Also, let us know your fees for this service.
